the hours continue to pass

As I lay on my couch, I realize that in twenty-four hours, I will have a much better idea of how the entry exam in two weeks will go.

I don't know what to think of this yet, but yesterday, I got an email from a recruiter. It contained an application and dates on which tests are conducted by which to apply prior to. Now, If I knew what to do with said information, it might not puzzle me so much. But it does. And thankfully, I'm not worried about it.

Boo. Class. Time for me to rot away. I need today's newspaper and puzzlers.

late night express

It's late. 1:58 AM, to be exact. I should probably be in bed right now. I am not.

The weather outside has gotten warmer, but not warm enough. It's just right. Just right to need a blanket. Just right to feel it blow by your face. Just right to feel it in between toes and not get cold. It makes me long for the days in the summer that I can sit on the porch and just watch the rain pour down in front of me. I wore sandals tonight. It made me happy.

Why can't I find my spindle of blank CD's when I need it?

Sleepy. Thank God for naps; they're sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day. I also despise the location of my English class. It's just in the right place for the ceiling to melt and green goo drip down from the lights and melt our eyes and ears and leave us with stumps for appendages and...thankfully it's only twice a week.

I'm having second thoughts about Friday already. Just about 3 seconds after I deceided that I was going up there. Not always the best. I have so many plans in mind. I just want to figure out what's the right one.

the upcoming practice exam

The young child walks with a skip in his step to the mailbox. That letter, the one from grandma or grandpa or uncle or aunt or dad on a trip, has the possibility of arriving today. As he nears the mailbox, his heart starts to beat faster. His mind can hardly contain his thoughts and it's all he can do to keep from running full tilt to get there faster. Is it coming today? What will be in it? He reaches his hand out to open the small door that hides letters and other parcels.

I turn the key and lock it back up. Nothing. Only the stupid advertisements that the local businesses I don't like send out for crap I don't need. Teaser letters, the "send military records (if applicable) back for additional candidate points" show up, only to leave me disappointed.

I take Charlotte's practice exam on Friday. I felt kinda dumb telling my boss that I was going to be late to work for a test that doesn't even count. Oh well.

Not that I'm nervous about it; far from it. I really am just not sure of what's going to be happening and going up to take a test for something that I'm not sure is going to happen makes me feel like I'm pushing plans. It's like what I asked for prayer for: I'm not worried. A job would be nice, but for once, I'm not worried about it. I think I was more proactive a year ago for employment for when I leave school than I am now.

JRPAT

So, it's done. It fianlly happened. I am now officially signed up to take Charlotte's entry examination. After calling for over a week, I finally got in touch with one of the people in the recruiting department. And after a series of rapid-fire emails this morning, the sign-up process was complete. Now all I need is the letter in the mail and I'm set.

February 23rd, here I come.

7-1

Not going in to work today meant one important thing: I had no reason to leave my bed for the duration of the day.

That is a little misleading; I did get up at 11:30. Then I loafed, voted, and cleaned hair from a drain.

I hate this, though. The weekends no longer feel like weekends. Only a few days in to the last semester, and already I'm ready for it to be over with. I have to look at airset to tell me that it's only been seven days of class that have happened so far.

Complicating things even further is the stupid reader that I need for two more of my classes. Books, the ones that cost a fortune to purchase, are bad enough. But now I have to buy two bound reams of paper that the copy store has marked up exorbitantly, simply because it says "ENGL388" on the front.

I think the worst part of it all is the fact that none of my classes have anything to do with my major. So it seems like I'm back in freshman year taking stupid required classes that I need for reasons unknown. Granted, I'm getting through it. But it's just one more thing to make me await May a little more anxiously.

I'm ready to not have work from class hanging over my head at all times. But there are decisions to be made; this is why I have been given time.

And I know, I know there is joy endowed.

Tonight was good.

That is all.

a few things

I figure as long as I'm using the internet, I should write something. And now that my computer is connected to the internet, my posts may [or may not] become more frequent.

Am I a bad person for only caring about The Dark Knight when I heard about Heath Ledger?

Then I heard he took sleeping pills. And my thought became: That would have been a good case study for that class last semester. But, that's me: horrible, heartless jerk.

Next point: I just found A Fine Frenzy a few days ago. Wow. That's all I can say. Beautiful.

From the Free Times in regards to Soulja Boy at the Township: "It’s the musical equivalent of a bag of Doritos: It’s cheap, disposable junk food. ... And that begs the question of which should be more offensive to Middle America: Vapid, oversexed, misogynist bubblegum snap-hop or hyper-violent-yet-artistically-viable gangsta rap?"

are you ready?

12:58 am.

This whole trying to get to bed before midnight thing to be rested in the morning is just not working really, really hard to get used to. Rested it good. Just getting into bed doesn't come as easily as it should. Granted, the fact that I figured out my neighbor's WEP key today and can now piggy back online from that connection isn't going to make things any easier.

Taxes=not fun. I probably should get my W-2s soon too.

Charlotte again caught my thoughts today. If I knew what to do, it would make this whole decision thing a lot easier. CMPD is a great department. I just don't know.

Yeah. Bed time. And I just found a splinter in my finger. Pleasant.

only the fairest

As we pulled into the parking lot, the sleet started to fall. Not hard, but a light sleeting. Enough to get out hopes up. But while in Cici's, it began to fall. Light at first, but as we began to filter outside, it started coming down decently. Snow. Fo'real. It was beautiful.

I don't know if it was the cold, or the wet, or the ice, or if it was just the thought of snow. But it go to our heads. Some bundled up. Others skipped. Some made strange faces. Others tried to eat it. I bounced up and down in one spot.

I walked from my house to the coffee shop tonight. Partly because I like it cold outside and enjoy the walk, but mostly because I like the snow that was falling. It mostly had stopped by the time I had arrived, which was disappointing.

Snow. It's one of those few things that are accepted as lovely by everyone.

The fact that my professor today shot down a student for taking a relativistic point of view regarding morality and religion was also great. The fact that people have to take a stand may be catching on. Maybe.
